Santa arrived at the Historic Thomas Jefferson Chambers Home on Saturday, December 16th riding in a horse drawn surrey. He was welcomed by parents and children who waited patiently for his appearance. Santa joined the children on the front porch where he listened to each child’s wish list.

The horse drawn surrey was made available by Charlie and Margarette Heredia of Wallisvile. In addition to visiting with Santa, the children were given rides in the surrey, which is a replica of a 1912 model built by Studebaker. The Heredias are avid trailriders and provided an extra treat for the children that came.

Santa’s visit was the conclusion of the annual toy drive that is conducted by the Chambers County Historical Commission. The community has been most responsive in bringing toys and the Historical Commission is grateful to everyone that has participated. The toys will be distributed county wide with assistance from the Chambers County Child Protective Services.
