An Act - Establishing a Post Office in Anahuac, Texas

TELEGRAPH AND TEXAS REGISTER
WEDNESDAY, FEBRUARY 21, 1844

AN ACT.

Establishing a Post Office, at Anahuac, in the County of Liberty

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of
the Republic of Texas, in Congress assembeled, That a Post Office be, and is hearby, established, at Anahuac, in the County of Liberty.

SECTION 2. Be it further enacted, That it shall be the duty of the Post Master at Galveston, to deliver the mail, for Anahuac, to such Posts as the Post Master, at Anahuac, shall direct, to be transported to that place, and the Post Master at Anahuac shall transmit by such Boat as he may think proper, the Galveston Mail.

SECTION 3. Be it further enacted, That said Mail is to be transported, free of expense to the Government, except the proceeds of the Post Office, at Anahuac,
which is hereby appropiated for that purpose.

SECTION 4. Be it further enacted, That this act shall take effect from and after its passage.
