Chambers County Historical Commission
Discusses Fort Anahuac Celebration
 

 

The Chambers County Historical Commission met in the Historical Archives room on Saturday, June 17, 2006.

The Commission welcomed two new members, Stephanie Rowland and Donna Britt, who were appointed by Chambers County Commissioners Court.

Although several Committee Reports were discussed, the main topic of discussion was the planned celebration commemorating 175 years since the Battle of Anahuac at Fort Anahuac.The celebration is planned for Saturday, June 9, 2007 in Fort Anahuac Park.

Various committees have been formed to organize the event. The general public is urged to take part in the planning process and any one wishing to assist may contact any Historical Commission member or call Commission Chair, Bob Wheat.

The Commission meets regularly on the third Saturday of each month and the public is encouraged to attend.
