Chambers County Historical Commission
Re-enacted lives of Swinneys

The Chambers County Historical Commission attended the East Texas Historical Society regional meeting on Friday, February 16, 2007, at the Elegante Hotel in Beaumont, Texas.

The Chambers County Historical Commission was invited to perform the re-enactment of the lives of Robert Emmett Swinney and his wife, Florence May.

The Commisssion first re-enacted the lives of the Swinneys in 2005, after discovering their unmarked graves in the Anahuac Cemetery. At that time, a dedication ceremony at the Anahuac Cemetery was held, and headstones furnished by the Chambers County Historical Commission, were placed.

Robert Swinney was a dedicated public servant for most of his life in Chambers County, from 1886-1931, when he died at age 74.
