CHAMBERS COUNTY HISTORICAL COMMISSION RECIEVES STATE AWARD

The Chambers County Historical Commission received another Distinguished Service Award from the Texas Historical Commission. CCHC Chair Bob Wheat and Vice Chair R.B. Scherer, Jr. accepted the award at the State Historical Conference on April 12 th and 13 th . The award recognizes the diverse programs of the CCHC and the numerous volunteer hours that are provided by the Commission Members. The conference was held at the Lakewood Inn and Conference Center near Austin. The Texas Historical Commission is placing new guidelines and regulations on local County Historical Commissions to ensure the preservation of Texas History. The County Commissions will be given greater responsibility for maintaining historical records and archives.
