The home of Sue and John Bradley made history by becoming the first home in Chambers County recognized by the county's Historical Commission.

Members of the CCHC presented the sign of recognition to the Bradleys for display, and plan to recognize other historical houses in the county.

The one-story, woodframe home at 612 Miller was built for R. B. Garland in 1905.

Mr. Garland was one of the founders of the Lone Star Canal, as well as a director of Chambers County State Bank.

"I am so honored to be the first recipient of this recognition" said Sue Bradley, whose husband, John, has owned the house for about 33 years.

"We are glad to honor the Bradley home and we look forward to recognizing other historic homes in the county", said Chairman Wheat.

County Judge Jimmy Sylvia, CCHC Chairman Bob Wheat,
and CCHC Secretary Kay Willcox
